AC Milan offer Musacchio to Napoli in swap deal
AC Milan will not renew Mateo Musacchio’s contract and are trying to use him in a swap deal with Napoli for Nikola Maksimovic.
AC Milan are looking for a reliable centre back to support Kjaer, Romagnoli and Gabbia. Among the many targets there is also the name of Nikola Maksimovic. The 28-year-old Serbian has a contract expiring on June 30 with Napoli. Contract that has not yet been renewed and which makes him very attractive on the market.
It is no coincidence that the player has also ended up in the sights of Inter and Juventus, as well as Marseille. With no progress in renewal talks with Napoli, his departure in January could become concrete so that the Azzurri could collect something from his sale.
A similar situation is that of Mateo Musacchio. The Argentinian defender of AC Milan has a contract expiring at the end of the summer. Contract that Milan are not willing to extend. The Rossoneri would have sold Musacchio during the summer but his injury crushed their plans.
Mateo Musacchio is a player much appreciated by former AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso, now at Napoli. In his Milan squad, the former Villarreal was a regular starter.
Thus a swap between the two players would be an ideal solution for a number of reasons. Pioli and Gattuso would get new signings and AC Milan with Napoli could record some profit on the balance sheet from the exchange between Musacchio and Maksimovic. AC Milan spent 18 million for Musacchio while the signing of Maksimovic cost Napoli 26 million euros in 2016.
